Shafi Jurist Imam Abd al-Hameed al-Sherwani (b. 1884): The Wahhabiyya are a sect of heretics and innovators

Imam al-Sherwani, writes in his famous commentary on Ibn Hajr al-Haythami’s “Tuhfat al-Muhtaj”:

and else where he writes:

As one can read from what is underlined, the Imam labels the Wahhabiya as “al firqat al-dhaalat” (i.e astray sect/heretics) and tags them along with the Rawafid as “Mubtadi’een” (i.e. innovators (in the religion)).
